The December 18th meeting is is a very casual affair. Nembers will bring in some "finger food" for munching. A couple of videos for entertainment. Also we will set aside some time for members to bring in their prints for discussion. As always we are open to the public so join us.

December 4th we will try again to present “the world in Black And White”. With our members bringing in images either digital or print to demonstrate their vision of the world in B&W. There may be demonstrations on how the color to B&W conversions were made. This should be an interesting and learning presentation .
The CACC members photography exhibit is now open to the public at the Maine General Hospital. It is displayed along one wall in the cafeteria area (down stairs from the main entrance). There are a very wide variety of topics in the images presented. Certainly a "must see" event. The exhibition will be on display through the month of December.

Nov 6th is election day. After the stress of the election season and doing your duty by voting come to our meeting and relax. We will be celebrating the colors of Autumn. Our members will bring in up to 10 images of the colors of autumn. This is entirely left to the interpretation of the photographer. This should be interesting and a learning experience.
Also the Capital Area Camera Club is having an exhibition of photos at the Maine General hospital starting at the end of November. If you are interested in showing your work please see Steve Dunn at the meeting for details. As for those who are signed up to display at the exhibition please remember that Steve is collecting the prints Nov. 20th so have your prints ready.

Due to the bad weather conditions predicted for today and tonight we will not be having our meeting this evening.
Those of you who have photographs for the Maine General exhibition please contact Steve Dunn to make arrangements.
The options are:
1. Deliver them to Steve's home.
2. arrange with Steve to be at the Arboretum between 11 and noon this Friday (definitely make arrangements in advance)
3. Deliver to the hospital Monday Nov 26th at 9:30. Stop at the main desk. They will guide you to the appropriate location.
We meet again Tuesday November 20th, 7PM at Viles Arboretum, 153 Hospital St. Augusta.
It's almost turkey time. But before we stuff ourselves we will delve into the black arts of Black and White photography. Yes it is time to explore Black and White images. B&W photography is still relevant in "modern" photography.
Our members will display digital and / or printed images in this wonderful color space. There will be a discussion of how the convert your color digital images to B&W. And how to create exceptional images from the conversion process. This will be an event you won't want to miss.
Also for those who were to submit photographs for the Maine General hospital exhibition this is the night to bring them in. The photographs will be placed on display by the end of November. Make sure you have them matted, framed and a wire attached for mounting at the show.
I hope to see you there.

For this meeting we have the pleasure of presenting Dave Dostie. Dave is a local resident and former member of CACC. He has traveled extensively as a paid photographer working for several interests including Maine Life magazine to make beautiful images of the scenes and events he is assigned to cover. Many of you may have seen his photos on Facebook where he publishes his images very often. This should be a chance to find out what it is like to be behind the camera and work as a travel photographer.
A quote from Dave."I was asked to speak at the Capital Area Camera Club tomorrow evening on my experience as a photographer navigating assignment-based work, the techniques & gear I rely on, and my approach to creating images that tell a story whether I’m local or adventuring the world. I’d invite anyone who has an interest in photography to come tomorrow (Tuesday 10/16) @ 7pm at the Viles Arboretum. I plan to hold an interactive presentation and do my best to answer any questions you may have. Whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned professional; all are welcome!!"
