For Paul Harwath it has been a long trip from hanging out of an airplane filming the Blue Angels flying corps to leaning over a pulpit on Sunday. The new pastor of So China Community Church has worn many hats throughout his interesting career starting out as a videographer and television journalist in Rockford, Illinois. There he covered a wide array of stories, including shooting the Blue Angels while dangling from an airplane harness, interviewing the 91-year old archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, meeting two presidents and Bob Hope, and covering baseball. A skilled video-photographer, he also produced many TV commercials, including five ads for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

Well girls and boys, Windsor fair in under way, school has started and Labor Day is this weekend so I guess summer is over. That means that it is time to start a new season of the Capital Area Camera Club.

Yes folks it is that time again.  We will start the season Tuesday Sept. 6th. (yes the day after labor day).  Our first program of the year is sort of a smorgasbord of of features. In no particular order we will have a review of events of the summer (NECCC), the web site, other things (?). Also a brief tutorial on Lightroom Library from the beginning for beginners thru intermediate level. And last but as always the best, the member slide show with the topic "What I did (photographed) this Summer".

So bring in your images for the slide show on a thumb drive. Please label the drive with your name so you can get it back. Then be ready for an evenings learning and entertainment.

Please come early so we can get the slide show prepared and also have time to meet and renew friendships before the meeting time.

We have some big plans for the meeting year so come and find out what is planned.

6D 5108We will be having a night photography "field session" Friday September 16th.  The plan is to meet at the entrance to Mount Hope Cemetary. Located at the top of Winthrop Street on the right, before the airport buildings. We should gather around 6:00 PM.  We will then move to the best location to photograph the moon rise over Augusta. Moonrise is around 6:25

After the moon rise we can break up and do some night photography around Augusta and Hallowell.

This is an excellent opportunity to practice our skills in night photography.

Bring your tripods and dress for potentially cool tempatures.

There will be mentors to help you get the image you want.

It should be a fun evening. Just watch the weather!!

I hope to see you there.

On August 1st, a few fellow members of your club, CACC met at Panera bread in Augusta to discuss the upcoming 2016-2017 programming season. We made excellent progress in designing a season packed with variety and new ideas. This is only the outline and may be subject to change. Some of the planned programs will not take up the entire two hours, so we will be adding some other content to fill the time slots. Some of the suggestions were to have some basic digital photography instruction for newer members. We will be looking for speakers on the topics we have listed (TBA), but at least we have something to work from to stimulate ideas and creativity with our program.
